Subject Hathaway Group Celebrates 50th Anniversary and Announces Key Promotion
During its Thursday night celebration of the company’s 50th anniversary, Little Rock commercial real estate firm Hathaway Group combined a nostalgic reflection on its successful history with the exciting announcement that the firm has elected Wes Martin as its new president.
Already a partner in the firm, Martin’s promotion from his previous role as vice-president makes him only the third person in the firm’s fifty-year history to hold the office of president. The promotion coincides with Martin’s acquisition of additional ownership shares in the company. Martin takes over the role of president from Jeff Hathaway, who will continue his full-time involvement as the firm’s chief executive officer and board chairman.
The firm will continue to be owned jointly by Hathaway, Martin, Executive Vice President Stuart Mackey, and Senior Vice President John Hathaway. These four principals lead the company’s team of eight brokers and three licensed sales assistants.
As the market’s only prominent commercial real estate company operating with a pure brokerage-only focus, Hathaway Group exclusively assists businesses, property owners, and investors in the acquisition and disposition of real estate through sale and lease transactions.
Founded on February 24, 1976, the property services company hosted hundreds of clients, friends, and business associates Thursday night to celebrate the milestone anniversary. Before unveiling the news of Martin’s new leadership status, company CEO Jeff Hathaway briefly reviewed some highlights of the company’s history, including I-430 office park developments by company founders Jim Hathaway and Terry Moore, structuring the acquisition of Baptist Health’s 150-acre campus in North Little Rock, forming an investor group to acquire the 100,000 square foot former Transamerica building in West Little Rock, handling land sales in the NorthShore Business Park throughout its 20+ year development, representing the largest Tropical Smoothie Café franchisee in a multi-state expansion, and representing Arkansas Federal Credit Union in the purchase of the Family Life Ministries building for a new headquarters.
Asked to comment on the evening’s celebration and announcement, Jeff Hathaway said, “I’ve been proud to be part of this firm for over 42 years. It’s been one of the highlights of my business career to work with Wes the past 13 years and see his remarkable growth and success as a dealmaker and a team player in our organization. I truly believe he’s the most talented real estate professional in Arkansas. We’re proud to align our firm’s future with his leadership.”
Martin commented on his excitement about the opportunity: “We’ve got a 50-year track record of excellence and superior service to our clients, a perfect facility for our relationship-based business, and a team of highly capable professionals poised for growth. I’m thrilled to have more ownership, more responsibility, and the trust of my partners as we look forward to growing and helping our clients succeed for the next fifty years.”
